Donations may be mailed to or dropped off at Animal Services, 3120 Martin Way, Olympia, WA 98506.
Call (360) 352-2510 if you need more information.
There are many ways to help the animals at our shelter, such as donating much-needed money or items for their care, including us in your financial planning (see Planned Giving below), volunteering at the shelter, spreading the word about our terrific adoption services, and promoting the importance of spaying/neutering pets (discounted spay/neuter help).
Donation Information
Donating is easy. We accept cash, checks, debit cards, Visa and Mastercard. You can call us with your credit card information, mail us a check payable to Animal Services or visit the shelter and make your donation in person! We would love to meet you…and so would the animals!
Donations can be made in honor of or in memory of a friend, co-worker, pet or family member. We will send a card to you and your designee, acknowledging your special gift.
You can select one of the following funds, or allow the shelter to use your donation in the area most needed. Donations are tax deductible (see the lower right corner of this page).
Donations can also be made through the WA State Combined Fund Drive, #0456521
Tucker's Fund
This fund is for emergency vet care and goes to help animals like Tucker, who was found with an injured leg and brought to the shelter. His leg was so damaged and infected that it had to be amputated. Tucker quickly recovered from his surgery and acted like a new pup, running and jumping around on his 3 legs.
A family met and fell in love with Tucker and took him home to join their household. Without donations to this fund, happy endings like Tucker’s would not be possible.
Susanne Beauregard Education Fund
In 2015, Director Susanne Beauregard retired after 25 years of service to our community and pets. One of her wishes was to establish a fund to help pet owners resolve behavior problems that might cause them to give up their pet, and to help shelter animals with behavioral issues that might keep them from being easily adopted. We will be creating a program where local trainers will work with pet owners, shelter dogs, volunteers and foster homes on reducing various behavioral problems, resulting in fewer surrenders and more successful adoptions. Future plans are to develop and build a community training center to create opportunities to enhance the human-animal bond and support the training program described above.
Discounted Adoption Promotions
Sometimes, we are critically full of pets waiting for new homes. Rather than euthanize healthy, adoptable animals, we discount the adoption of adult pets to give people even more of an incentive to adopt. We also participate in national Adoption Events, promoting the placement of shelter animals. We are only able to offer reduced-fee adoptions when we have donated funding available, so your donation makes a big difference.
General Animal Care
Animals have a variety of needs–and we don’t always have the solution on hand. We find ourselves purchasing meat baby food for orphaned pets and wildlife, supplements, special foods for digestive problems, housing for reptiles and other critters, Kongs and other toys to occupy the pets’ time with us… the list goes on and on. Money and gift cards to pet stores, home improvement and big box stores can help us with these needs.
Planned Giving
Although Animal Services receives operating funds from the communities we serve Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater and Thurston County – we depend on donations and planned gifts to supplement those funds and, in some cases, to keep programs running.
Not everyone has the money to tuck into a donation jar or to purchase bags of dog or cat food for donation. But anyone, regardless of income, can plan a gift that provides a significant resource for animals.
Planned gifts provide creative and flexible strategies for your charitable and estate planning. Some planned gifts provide you with income. Many of them can reduce your taxes. And the greatest benefit is supporting the work at Animal Services.
We have the good fortune of living and working in a community that cares about animals and whose community members have always been willing to help, even in an economy that spares little for sharing.
Here are some ideas for developing a planned gift to fit with your income and estate needs. Financial advisors, insurance agents, CPAs or attorneys can help you develop your plan.
